We often here about the power of now and that we should always live in it to be happy. Yet, what if the now that you are living in is not so great and you need to change your situation? The power of now is therefore more than just what is going on in this particular time; the power of now is more about your own self, stopping and experiencing an inner now that is beyond space and time.
The power of now can also be a trap to stay in bliss, to procrastinate or to hinder advancement. Often we need to experience tough situations and events to grow and to expand as an individual, so when we look at life in this way we can see a different view of the now. The power of now is therefore more of an acceptance and yet it is also the catalyst for one to change. So, rather than fighting the true feelings about a horrible situation by pretending it is all OK, we can stop, look internally and then find the now within us. When we find the power of now within us we can then declare our desire to move on and say, ‘enough is enough’.
Obviously, the power of now can be liberation from how you feel if are constantly connecting with the past or if you are worried about what may happen in the future. Yet we must be careful not to allow ourselves to bury our heads in the sand by saying, ‘I am just going to live in the now’. We need to deal with past issues because we are feeling the effects now and we need to deal with future fears because, again, we are experiencing those fears now. The power of now is thus about honesty and embracing what we are feeling at this precise point and then making new steps in a different direction.
The power of now is not a static energy designed to keep you from responsibility or from facing your fears or from moving on in your life; the power of now is about standing still and taking responsibility for what is going in your life right now and then moving on in a new and dynamic way. If we can do this then the next time we stop and view the now, we may encounter a completely new landscape that we never knew existed.
