The perfect picnic can be one of the best ways to bring people together. Whether this is in a romantic setting or as a way of bring a family together at meal times, the perfect picnic can provide atmosphere, bonding and great food!
Perfect picnic settings
This is down to personal choice but the classics are beaches, woodland, meadows or even mountains. City parks are also fantastic places to have that perfect picnic or simply sharing a lunch with a friend on a park bench. Do not be put off by weather conditions, for a picnic in a tent or beneath a gazebo can be very cozy and relaxing. If you cannot get outside you can even have a picnic indoors. Lay a blanket in the front room, bring out the picnic snacks, and even put on a woodland noises CD! It is all about building a perfect picnic atmosphere and young children will love the adventure, even though they are not outdoors.
Perfect picnic food
Picnic food does not have to be boring sandwiches. Jars of sun dried tomatoes, olives and feta cheese make welcome additions. French bread with roasted peppers, sundried tomatoes and olives on top make a great bruschetta and couscous, hummus and stuffed vine leaves bring a Middle Eastern feel. A simple lunch of bread, olive oil and balsamic vinegar can be very tasty, especially with a light white wine or a rose wine. If you bring along flasks of tea or coffee, then do keep the milk in a separate container so as not to taint the flask; a disposable container for milk is ideal. Powdered milk is a great picnic addition as you can make just what you need for the day.
Perfect picnic list
Obviously, the food and drink is personal but there are some essentials that you must always bring along to any picnic.
- Can opener
- Bottle opener
- Bottled water
- Napkins

- Knives and forks
