The Toni & Guy Experience

I needed a new haircut and after my last two I wasn’t looking forward to it. Moving around meant trying a different hairdressers every time. I’d come across stylist who weren’t interested with their customer. Cutting my hair as if I was a plastic model, talking to others but not to me, and making a mess of my hair. A friend recommended the Toni & Guy salon, so while in town I walked in to book an appointment. The reception area was right at the front, slightly to one side so you had a full view of what was going on.

‘Can you reassure me that I’m going to get a good haircut, something that I’ll be happy with?’ I asked the young lady, and with a clear and friendly tone she explained all about the stylists training.

Well, what can I say, the whole experience was absolutely delightful. From the moment I walked in for my appointment to when I paid and left.

The staff were polite, gentle and attentive. The stylist didn’t rush me and as we looked through the magazines, he listened and advised and listened again, genuinely taking in every query I had. Once we had decided on a cut, I was led through the salon to have my hair washed. This was when I realized that the simple floor plan kept everything moving smoothly and clutter free. As I sat on the the large black chair and lent my head back the young girl asked if I wanted the massage chair on. Massage chair? ‘Yes please’, I replied and while she gently washed, soaped and rinsed, I was kneaded from my lower back to my shoulder blades!  After the hair wash, when offered a drink I chose the orange juice and then was guided back to my seat.

The stylist returned and started to cut my hair. He worked with a steady rhythm and the conversation ranged from career choices to mental health. He made a few little cuts after drying my hair, just making sure everything was in place. I was told that the style would last a good couple of months without trimming and as for my fringe I could come back anytime and have it trimmed for free.

I had paid the exact price advertised for the cut and blow dry, the orange juice and massage chair had been a lovely bonus to my visit. I left feeling pampered, relaxed and had a lovely haircut too.

Four days later I washed my hair. This was the real test to a good haircut. Could I make it look as good as they did? Using the hairdryer and my fingers I dried my hair. I used the straighteners on my fringe once, and twice on bits that looked slightly out of place. As I looked into the mirror I couldn’t help but sing their praises again. Thank you Toni & Guy, I have a lovely haircut that I can manage easily, an experience that I look forward to repeating and you have a loyal customer in me!
