Using Socialmarker as a Marketing Tool

Social bookmarking is a great way to drive visitors to your website or your blog; social bookmarking can also help get your new articles and posts indexed quickly by having a link on the social bookmarking sites linking to your site; every little bit helps and this linking could help improve your site’s page rank

If you regularly post your articles on sites such as Dig or StumbleUpon then you will know that the more social bookmarking sites you use, the more time consuming the whole process can become. This is where having a tool to manage the whole process can be invaluable; one such tool is Socialmarker.

When you visit the Socialmarker website, you will see a list of all the social bookmarking sites that they deal with. How many you use is up to you, I have had good results with just five but this is a matter of experimentation. The easiest and the quickest way to use Socialmarker is to first sign into the social bookmarking sites that you use. Once logged in, you won’t need to log in at every request made by Socialmarker.

In addition, a Socialmarker toolbar button makes it easier to bookmark your article as it happens. Of course, this is also useful if you find items on the web that you wish to share. This is an important point, if you only bookmark what are obviously your own articles and posts then visitors to your profile will soon get bored. You need to include a majority of other websites along with your own articles.

When using the tool, simply add the titles, description and keyword tags to Socialmarker at the bottom of the screen. These can then be dragged into the appropriate places on the particular social bookmarking site that is highlighted. Submit your post and then use the ‘next’ button to go the next social bookmarking site in the list.

Using Socialmarker allows you to submit your posts to many bookmarking sites in record time; however, as noted above, do not overdo it. The last thing you want is to be labeled a spammer or have your accounts closed down!

As a rule, a ratio of 80/20 other sites/your sites gives a good rounded social bookmarking profile. Everyone knows that the internet is used for marketing and self-promotion as long as useful and engaging content is shared. You may wish to bookmark every social site that is available; however, this may start to water down your results. Stick with five or so good bookmarking sites that fit your subject matter and style and you will start to see increased traffic to your website or blog.
