Start the Day Happy

All of us wish to start the day happy and in a positive frame of mind, and yet sometimes there seems to be a conspiracy to keep you moody; especially on a Monday morning! These simple tips below will help you start the day happy, positive, and ready to take on the world.

First, let us look at how you ended the previous day. It is never a good idea to watch anything negative on the television before bedtime, so why not put on a positive DVD or read a good book to let you drift off into a positive mindset. It is also a good idea to eat a light dinner, this will aid nighttime digestion and will help prevent that heavy, groggy feeling one gets in the morning. It is also important not to fall asleep thinking of problems, you will wake up with them and thus start your day with a negative perspective.

To combat bedtime stress, taking up meditation, Tai Chi or something similar can work wonders. Nighttime visualizations can be fantastic for refreshing the mind and soul as one falls asleep and can distract you away from negative thoughts. Look at this article regarding astral temples.

Another neat trick is to hang a beautiful poster or painting right on the wall opposite where you sleep. If this positive image is the first thing you see when you wake up then you will have instant positivity before you even get up!

When we arise many of us often turn in the news; is this necessary? The news can wait, so why start your day with an endless stream of negativity; instead, play some calming or perhaps energizing music to get you going. The writer has gentle soothing music on his cell phone to use as an alarm; this gently wakes you up in stages and cuts out the harsh, abrupt alarm clock!

Another trick is to have everything that you need for the day prepared the night before. For example, car keys, briefcase, folder, umbrella and so on, can be placed in a dedicated space by the door so that when you wake there is no stress of finding what you need. The less stress you have in the morning the better your day will be.

As for the rest of the day, well this is where mediation and other practices can prove useful. The more you practice the more skilled you will become in dealing with stress. Over time, this can become habitual and you will see your stress levels greatly reduced.

So start the day happy and positive with these few simple yips and you may never fear Mondays again!
