Building an Astral Temple

Astral temples are wondrous and magical places used to replenish one’s energies, to heal, to divine the future and to allow the astral traveler to simply be. Astral temples can be as simple or as complex as one wishes and, when built over the years, can provide solid places of transformative experience.

When building your astral temple, it is important to start very simply and with a basic design; more complexity can be added later as long as a solid foundation for the astral temple has been established. There is much debate as to whether one should use a building that exists within the physical dimension of the earth or whether one should build a unique and personal form. There is also though that one uses an established front of a building as long as one has never actually entered the building itself.

This writer feels that the above have limitations and since the astral temple is designed for astral work, the physical thought form association of the building is not relevant; actually the physical thought form association is the self. This means that the astral temple within the physical kingdom is actually the astral traveler; you are the temple.

Thus, we start with simple foundations of whatever genre effects you at a cellular level. Perhaps you resonate with ancient Egypt, the Celts, Nordic mountains, tropical beaches; anything is allowable here! The only rule is consistency, therefore it is a good idea to explore your own psyche to find out your own frequencies and thus translate these into the astral plane. You should not chop and change every few weeks for the purpose of the astral temple is to build an astral building; which can only be achieved through astral consistency.

As an example, one would enter a meditative state or perhaps as one is falling asleep at night, you then visualize the landscape. Let there be colour, sound scent and all manner of sensations. Perhaps there is bird song, rainfall, or thunderstorms. It is vital to infuse the terrain with all sensation to build it firmly within the psyche. If you have a favorite weather, then use that in your astral landscape.

Next, build the foundations of the temple itself, whether this is a Corinthian style temple, or an Egyptian pyramid, or a Celtic Hall; it does not matter only in that it must matter to you. Do not build a Greek temple if it means nothing to you, for the astral work will not bring much benefit. There is no rule here, so if modern executive-style skyscrapers bring you excitement or relaxation then build one in the astral plane; and use it.

Once you have your building, do not enter for a few days or even weeks. Merely walk around the terrain and examine your astral temple. Feel the landscape, touch the walls of the temple, feel the cold of the marble or the roughness of the wood. When you have the image formally fixed so that it appears in an instant with astral consistency, then one may enter and perform works of astral magic; this, however, is for a future article.
